Its the Woolf!

Against you I will fling myself, unvanquished and unyielding, O Death! – Virginia Woolf

Each has his past shut in him like the leaves of a book known to him by his heart, and his friends can only read the title.Virginia Woolf

She has to be the greatest woman writer in all times, beating even bronte and austen. I have read two of her books – Mrs. Dalloway and To The lighthouse. I love her style of writing. It is images and thoughts put together, sometimes with internal relevance, but u can understand the idea if u read it careful. I am not a romantic. Neither are her works. She holds the image or an idea by its throat and places a mirror in front of it so that we can see wat she sees.

I love the fact that she doesn write in a conventional manner – everything spelt out and clear like a kindergarten child’s workbook. You need to stop and think…and understand. She has often been considered a ‘psycho’, a ‘suicidal lesbian’, etc., but i think its the psychological perspectives and insights that she provides that makes her novels different.

I’m sure many women have felt or thought after reading her works: ‘Oh my god, that sounds like me!’; even though they wont publically admit it cos of the way Virginia Woolf has been tagged.

If u love reading (and esp if u are a woman) these books are worth a read. I warn you they are not for light reading…
